Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, is set to join a significant cycling event alongside a group of educators from various parts of the country.
This initiative, known as 'Cycling with Teachers,' is part of the Fit India Sundays On Cycle series and is scheduled at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium on May 4. The event underscores the importance of physical fitness and aims to encourage more people to embrace cycling as a regular activity.

The Fit India Movement has been at the forefront of promoting healthier lifestyles across the nation. Through the "Fight Obesity" campaign, it emphasizes the crucial role of teachers, coaches, and academic mentors in encouraging active living.
This week's cycling event is especially dedicated to these educators, recognizing their influence in fostering a culture of physical fitness among their students and communities.
Since its inception in December 2024, the cycling campaign has successfully engaged over 2 lakh individuals of varied ages, spanning 5000 locations throughout India. This widespread participation reflects the movement's appeal and its effectiveness in motivating people to adopt more active lifestyles.
Among the supporters are Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the esteemed badminton pair, who recently received their Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna awards. They have praised the initiative, noting the shift from motorcycles to bicycles as a positive change for both health and the environment.
Chirag Shetty voiced his support, stating, "Cycling not only helps you stay fit but also benefits the environment. It's a win-win to commute to work or enjoy leisure activities by cycle.
Whether it's once, twice, or every day, please use cycles and support this initiative." This sentiment captures the dual benefits of cycling: its contribution to personal health and its positive impact on environmental sustainability. Scheduled to begin at 7 AM, the upcoming Fit India Sundays on Cycle event promises to be a gathering of notable personalities alongside Dr. Mandaviya.
Among the attendees are Manoj Tiwari, a Member of Parliament and renowned Bhojpuri actor-singer, and Narender Kumar, a mountaineer who successfully climbed Mount Annapurna, the world's 10th highest peak, in a remarkable 12-day expedition in April 2025. Their participation underscores the wide-ranging support for the Fit India Movement and its initiatives.
This initiative highlights the growing trend of cycling in India, not only as a form of exercise but also as a sustainable mode of transport. With the involvement of influential figures from various fields, the message of the Fit India Movement reaches a broader audience, encouraging more individuals to embrace a physically active lifestyle.
The collaborative effort of educators, athletes, and public figures in promoting cycling reflects a united front in the fight against obesity and environmental degradation, showcasing the power of community in effecting positive change.
