Cyclothon: Hunter wins Mumbai leg, Viviani most consistent

Mumbai, Feb 13 (PTI) Robbie Hunter of US-based teamRadioshack won the shortened second stage here today, but itwas Elia Viviani of the Italy based Team Liquigas, who won thehonour of being the most consistent rider of the Tour deMumbai.

The original 104-km race of 12 laps, was delayed byover an hour and 30 minutes and curtailed to 79 kms and 11laps, after some amateur participants and photographerscovering the event were found loitering on the Rajiv GandhiBandra-Worli Sea Link, through which the cyclists had to pass.

In a dramatic finish to the Mumbai leg of the race, theexperienced Hunter surged ahead when his team was lookingcompletely out of contention, to clinch victory after a riderfrom Team Kazakhstan had taken a comfortable lead of about200 metres with just one lap to go.

Hunter, winner of the yellow jersey, won 6,000 Euros inaddition to 3,000 Euros for being the second most consistentrider.

Vivani, who won the first stage in Nashik, finishedsecond here, while Jonathon McEvoy of Team Motorpoint finishedthird.

For his efforts here, Viviani won the prize money of 3000Euros, in addition to the 5000 Euros he won for being the most''consistent rider with maximum combatability points''. He alsobagged the blue jersey for the same. .
