Dalmiya strikes back

By Staff

Kolkata, Feb 26 (UNI) Jagmohan Dalmiya today returned to Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) leading a vast majority of members to garner the bigger share of IPL pie for the member associations and virtually signaled his grand re-entry to BCCI after 15-months' of exile.

'' Till today afternoon I was not sure, but now I think I will go tomorrow. The members have been asking me to help them out and I just could not turn them away this time, '' Dalmiya told UNI last night.

Today after the Special General Meeting (SGM), where he was backed by 85 members of the 121 members, Dalmiya said he had placed the demands of the member associations. Though the man himself refused to give out anything on whether it was his return, Dalmiya just said, '' Yes, I am back in CAB, you can see it. '' Asked if he would contest the CAB elections, he said, '' There is still time for that. I don't know that. '' On whether it meant he was taking his first steps to the BCCI, he said, '' How I can say that now? I don't know it. '' Life had turned a full circle for the wily Marwari who came back to CAB where he started off as a young man under the tutelage of Biswanath Dutta, considered to be the Bhisma of the maidan. Himself a wicket-keeper batsman, he went on to glove every opportunity that presented itself before him.

He reigned supreme in the state body from 1992 to 2006 when he relinquished his post after being ignominiously banned by BCCI.
