Debutant Siddique sets Pakistan respectable target

By Staff

CAPE TOWN, Sep 20 (Reuters) Debutant Junaid Siddique smashed a quickfire 71 from 49 balls to lift Bangladesh to a respectable total of 140 all out in their final Twenty20 World Cup game against Pakistan at Newlands today.

The 20-year-old left-hander displayed a fearless array of attacking strokes, hitting six fours and three sixes, but received little in the way of support from his team mates, none of whom were able to reach 20.

Aftab Ahmed was the next highest scorer on 15 with Pakistan off spinners Mohammed Hafeez and captain Shoaib Malik leading the way with figures of 2-27 and 2-15.

Australia's earlier 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka ensures Pakistan's qualification for Saturday's semi-finals. Bangladesh have already been eliminated.
