Defending champions Manipur starts in style

Puducherry, Jan 11 (UNI) Defending champions Manipur began their title defence with a bang, crushing Chhattisgarh 9-0 in a quarterfinal league match of the Fifth Junior National Girls Football Tournament here today.

Manipur, which was seeded directly into the quarterfinals, excelled in all departments of the game and totally outplayed their off-coloured opponents and gained full points from the match.

In another quarterfinal match, Jharkhand defeated West Bengal by a solitary goal to collect full points.
