Dejounte Murray expressed his frustration after the New Orleans Pelicans suffered a heavy 119-93 defeat to the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors, who had not won an away game in their last ten attempts, managed to secure a significant victory. This was only Murray's second appearance for the Pelicans following a hand fracture in October. The loss extended the Pelicans' losing streak to six games, leaving Murray visibly upset.
The Raptors had not tasted victory in New Orleans since March 2019, having lost their previous four encounters there. In those games, they were defeated by an average margin of 28.7 points. However, this time they managed to build a 34-point lead in the second half, much to the dismay of the home fans and players alike.

Murray did not hold back his feelings about the team's performance. "If you're not embarrassed and really mad about this, that's a problem," he stated. He emphasised that it wasn't just about losing but how they lost in front of their supporters. "They deserve a better game," he added, acknowledging the fans' right to express their disappointment.
Murray's return was less than ideal as he struggled initially by missing his first seven shots before ending with just 14 points. The Pelicans have been plagued by injuries with key players like Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram missing games. Although Williamson and CJ McCollum have returned to action, several others remain sidelined.
Despite these setbacks, Murray refused to use injuries as an excuse for poor performance. "When you've got guys in, guys out... it's really tough," he remarked. However, he stressed that competing should never be compromised regardless of who is available on the court.
The Pelicans need to find ways to overcome these challenges and improve their competitiveness on the floor. As they navigate through this difficult phase with injuries affecting their lineup consistency, maintaining effort and intensity remains crucial for them moving forward.
