Delhi girl Richa's domination in the pool meets resistance

Guwahati, Feb 13 (UNI) Richa Mishra's golden run in the swimming competitions seems to have finally met with resistance, with the Delhi girl failing to finish for the podium in the 50m breastroke in the 33rd National Games here today.

Richa had dominated the pool among women in the last three days winning six indivual gold in 200m freestyle, 200m backstroke, 200m breaststroke, 100m butterfly, 400 m individual medley and 1500m freestyle.

But today, she had to contend with a silver in the 200m butterfly and even failed to make it to the podium in the 50 m breaststroke.

Talking to reporters, Richa attributed her shaky show to lack of concentration and a bit of fatigue.

She said, ''I am a bit tired, which might have had a toll on my performance.'' She also admitted that there were lapses in her concentration during the 50 m breaststroke event.

''I was trying to see the position of my competitors. I even looked over my shoulder once to see where others were placed,'' Richa said.
