Delhi girls to clash Karnataka, Uttarakhand boys to meet Haryana

Dehradun, Nov 29 (UNI) Delhi Girls defeated Rajasthan and Karnataka beat Punjab in the semi-finals of 53rd National Volleyball School Games (Under-17) Tournament here today.

Meanwhile Haryana and Uttarakhand lads sailed into the final by beating Delhi and Uttar Pradesh respectively in the Boys semi-finals.

Haryana boys defeated Delhi 3-2, while Uttarakhand excelled over Uttar Pradesh in straight three sets in the semis.

In the other match Delhi girls thrashed Rajasthan 3-0 while their Karnataka counterpart defeated Punjab 3-0.

In the Girl's semi-final, though Rajasthan girls made things little difficult for the Delhi spikers, but the later managed to won the match with 25-21, 25-28, 25-21 and 25-21. In another semi-final match between Karnataka and Punjab, former proved too good for later as they romped them in three sets (25-20, 25-9,25-21) victory.

In a closely fought semi-final match between Haryana and Delhi lads, the former excelled over the later in 5 sets game. Haryana boys won the first set 25-18 but lost the second set 19-25 only to win the third set 25-19. However giving a tough time Delhi players equalled the game with fourth set win (25-22).

In the fifth and final set, Haryana boys displaying fine blocking technique and exhibiting powerful smashes gave no room to the rivals winning the set 15-9 and waltz into the final.

Uttarakhand boys do not have to perspire much to excelled over the rival Uttar Pradesh in the other semi-final encounter. Except for the first set in which UP spikers posed difficulty to the host team and lost with thin margin of 23 to 25, the later sets witness their stamina wanning out, with the host maintaining their coordination and power shots won the second set 25-13 and the third set 25-16 to register their name in the final.

Haryana boys will clash with Uttarakhand and Delhi girls will face Karnataka tomorrow in the final.
