Delhi, Kerala surge ahead in Junior Nationals
Vijayawada, Jan 17 (UNI) Delhi and Kerala boys today won their respective matches after tough resistance from Bihar and Uttaranchal in the 33rd Reliance Junior National Volleball Championship played here.
In the pool 'C' match, Delhi after winning the first set 25-20, lost the next two to Bihar 17-25,16-25 and came back into the game magnificiently and won the next two 25-22,15-07.
In another match in pool 'B', Uttaranchal made Kerala sweat in their league match, though the latter won 3-2.
After losing the first set, 22-25, Kerala bounced back and won the next set 25-14. However, though Kerala lost the third set 14-25 to Uttaranchal again, Kerala boys thereafter played brillaintly to win the next two sets, 25-21,15-8 to wrap up the match.
Chhattisgarh scored an easy victory over Jammu and Kashmir by winning the match in Pool 'A' 25-11,25-12,25-17 while defending champion Kerala defeated Uttaranchal 25-03,25-12, 25-10 and Chandigarh trounced Delhi 25-14,25-04,25-06 in Pool 'A' of girls segment.
Tamil Nadu crushed Delhi 25-12,25-17,25-14 in Pool 'C' and Punjab pipped Maharashtra 25-21,25-11,25-13 in pool 'D' (boys) matches.
Chattisgarh declared winner after Manipur failed to turn up for the match in another (boys) pool 'D' match.
Uttar Pradesh outwitted Haryana in Pool 'D' girls match 25-23,25-12,26-24.
