Delhi Powerlifter dies during Palampur event

Shimla, Apr 2 (UNI) Surinder Kumar, a powerlifter from Delhi here to participate in the National Powerlifting Championship in Palampur, died after collapsing during warm up exercises on the inaugural day yesterdsy, police said today.

The 30-year-old Kumar, who hailed from Rani Bagh in the national capital, was to participate in the 67 kg category.

Kumar, who apparently suffered a massive cardiac arrest during the warm up schedule, was immediately rushed to Palampur Hospital where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Police said it was natural death.

The parents of the deceased have reached Palampur and the body has been handed over to them.
