Delhi set to run once again in Half marathon on Nov 27

New Delhi, Aug 23: Around 30,000 people, including athletes and celebrities, will come together once again to set alight the streets as they participate in the 7th edition of the Delhi Half Marathon to be held on November 27.

Around 40 of the world's top 100 male and female long distance athletes are expected to participate in the USD 210,000 event, which will see some of the biggest names of sport as brand Ambassador.

Kenya's Geoffrey Mutai and Ethiopia's Aselefech Mergia are the defending champion, while Irappa D Akki and Lalita Babar emerged winners for India in the men and women section.

Recognised by the IAAF as a ''gold lebel Event'', the Airtel Delhi half marathon will be flagged off on yet another Sunday morning in November under the aegis of the Athletics Federation Of India (AFI).

The registration for the event were declared open by Sanjay Kapoor, CEO-India and South Asia of Bharati Airtel, in presence of Bipasha Basu, the ''face of the event'' and other dignatories.

Physical registration for the event will open on Thursday.

"We salute the spirit of forging ahead in the long race and are delighted to be associated with the Delhi half Marathon for 4th consecutive year. I am confident the city of delhi will take a lead in sinspiring friends to come together and participate in large numbers," Kapoor said.

The half marathon will also have veteran, senior veteran and super veteran categories for men and women, besides there are Wheelchair Event and Great Delhi Run, spread over a distance of 7 kms.
