Delhi women to play inaugural tie against holders railways

Jaipur, Dec 20 (UNI) Delhi women will play the inaugural tie against holders Railways in the 56th Senior National Volleyball Championship for men and women commencing at the SMS Indoor hall here from December 23 to January 1.

Hosts Rajasthan men will take on Assam in the first match slatted for the opening day while Kerala will meet Tamilnadu. Rajasthan women will also play Haryana in the fourth and last match of the day.

In all, 50 teams including 27 in men will figure in this 10-day championship. The participating teams in each groups have been divided into six pools. The championship will be play on league cum knock out basis. The teams finishing first three in pool A and B will straight away will qualify for the knock out stage while two teams will join them after the play offs second round.

Two courts will run in the Indoor hall for the matches while three other courts will also be used in the open for the matches.

The stage is set for the show.
