Dempo take on Bagan in Super Cup tomorrow

Gurgaon, May 26 (UNI) A keen tussle is on the cards in the Super Cup match between NFL Champions Dempo Sports Club, Goa and Federation Cup winners Mohan Bagan here tomorrow.

While Bagan seeked to leave behind their NFL disappointment with a victory, Dempo are looking ahead to end this season on a winning note.

But Bernard Operanozie, the Bagan coach sees the tie as a revenge match as his boys had lost to Goan club at their last NFL fixture at Margao.

''We are taking our opponents very seriously since they had already won the NFL title. We are looking to seek revenge of our loss at Margao and take the Super Cup trophy,'' Bernard said.

The Kolkata giants are however, without the services of key defender Sanjiv Maria and mid-fielders Tomba Singh, Mehtab Hussain, Mehraj Uddin Wadoo and Dharamjit Singh.

The Goan side will be without inspirational captain Roberto Mendes De silva (Beto) and strikker Ranty Martins. Dempo coach Armando Colaco is, however, unperturbed by the absence of his two key players and asserted to rely on their collective effort.

''Dempo is known for playing as a unit and I hope my boys will be able to match our rivals even without Ranty and Beto,'' Colaco said.

He is, however, not taking his opponents lightly saying, ''This Bagan side is a good team and we have to play to our best to lift the Super Cup.'' Mohan Bagan had earlier failed to win the Super Cup in two earlier occasions, losing both times to Salgaocar in 1998 and 1999 while Dempo were beaten by Sporting Clube Ge Goa in 2005.
