Lt Col Dewan picks up high honours at FEI World Jumping Challenge

The High Field Equestrian rider pipped Rishabh Mehta of United Riders Barn and EIRS' Chetan Reddy to win in the highest category.

Bengaluru, December 11: Lt Col Sandeep Dewan astride Frenchman emerged victorious in the 120-130cm category of FEI World Jumping Challenge grand finale organised by Embassy International Riding School on Monday (December 11).

The High Field Equestrian rider pipped Rishabh Mehta of United Riders Barn and EIRS' Chetan Reddy to win in the highest category event. While EIRS' riders Basavaraju Sangappa atop of Capo Cassione and Balaji Vijay Shankar astride Erano finished first in the 110-120 and 100-110cm events respectively.

The tournament under the aegis of the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) and the Federation Equestrian Internationale (FEI) was conducted over three days - 2nd, 4th & 11th December 2017 at EIRS.

FEI World Jumping Challenge (FEI WJC) is divided into ten geographical zones and India falls into Zone 9 which also includes Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Pakistan and Philippines.

The EIRS were thrilled to host the FEI WJC which has three Categories of levels of Jumping and this year, FEI WJC saw participations from talented riders across the country.

"It is our privilege to host the FEI world jumping challenge at Embassy International Riding School," said Silva Storai, Director, Embassy International Riding School.

We have seen some of the best riders participating at this year's challenge. We are glad that we have been able to support the talents by providing this platform."

The aim of this competition is to provide opportunities to riders from developing countries to compete internationally, without having to leave their own country.

The courses are common for all competing countries which are designed by the FEI Course designers, and judged by an International Judge with Jury member from the hosting countries.

The results of the finale of the FEI World Jumping Challenge:

CATEGORY A (120-130CM)

1. Lt Col Sandeep Dewan - Frenchman - High field Equestrian Center (HEC) - Coonoor

2. Rishabh Mehta - Caprice - United Riders Barn (URB) - Bangalore

3. Chetan Reddy - Cleo - Embassy International Riding School (EIRS) - Bangalore

CATEGORY B (110-120CM)

1.Basavaraju Sangappa - Capo Cassione - Embassy International Riding School (EIRS) - Bangalore

2. Kaevaan Setalvad - Capella - Setalvad Equestrian (SE) - Bangalore

3. Barath Manoharan - Barona - United Riders Barn (URB) - Bangalore

= Rishabh Mehta - Earley - United Riders Barn (URB) - Bangalore

CATEGORY C (100-110CM)

1. Balaji Vijay Shankar - Erano - Embassy International Riding School (EIRS) - Bangalore

2. Barath Manoharan - Red Dragon - United Riders Barn (URB) - Bangalore

3. Shambavi Ajila - Apasun - Setalvad Equestrian (SE) - Bangalore
