Reflecting on her path to the Olympics, Desinghu acknowledges the challenges she faced, especially starting out among much older competitors at the Senior Nationals. "I was just 12 at the time, surrounded by athletes double my age," she recalls. "It was daunting, but each competition made me stronger."

Her dedication and natural talent caught the eye of coaches at Dolphin Aquatics, where she refined her skills under the mentorship of Madhu Kumar B M. "Madhu sir saw my potential from the start," she reflects gratefully. "He's been instrumental in my development, pushing me to break records and excel."

Desinghu's achievements include setting the national record in the women's 200m freestyle, marking a milestone in her career. "It's a stepping stone," she asserts. "My ultimate goal is Olympic gold."

Looking ahead to Paris, Desinghu is not just focused on performance but also on meeting her idol, American legend Katie Ledecky. "Katie's been my hero since I started swimming," she beams. "I've even made gifts for her. It would be a dream come true to meet her in Paris."

Preparation for the Olympics demands rigorous training, averaging 5 to 6 hours daily, including gym sessions. "It's tough," she admits. "But discipline and support from my swimming family keep me going."

As she gears up for her Olympic debut, Desinghu remains grounded, appreciating the sacrifices that come with her sport. "I miss out on a lot," she confesses. "But representing India fills me with pride. I hope my journey inspires others to take up swimming."

As Dhinidhi Desinghu prepares to make history at the 2024 Paris Olympics, her journey from overcoming shyness to setting national records stands as a testament to her dedication and passion for the sport.
