Madrid, Feb 26: Argentine football legend, Diego Maradona, is keen continue to his career as a coach. But this time there is a little twist. After an unsuccessful stint as coach of the Argentina national side, he has now set his sights on coaching Spain.

Marca, a Spanish sport daily, quoted Maradona as saying, "My desire (to coach) remains intact and I reckon I could do it in Spain."

Reflecting back on his stint with Argentina as coach and elaborating on his future course of action, Marca quoted him as saying, "After the 2010 World Cup, I received two or three interesting proposals. But they didn't suit me. I thanked (the clubs) and said the time wasn't right. But now that the summer has passed, I'm approaching things differently."

Under the tutelage of Maradona, Argentina was drubbed 4-0 by Germany in the FIFA World Cup 2010 quarter-finals. Later, the Argentine Football Association decided not to extend his contract.

Maradona, a charismatic figure in world football has often been mired in controversies. His illustrious career in which he single-handedly won the World Cup for Argentina, has also been tainted by doping controversies and the infamous 'hand of god' goal. A much reformed man now, he is still seen as too strong a personality to be put in charge of a national football team.

Lets see how far his hope for coaching World Champion Spain goes. But as a matter of fact people would love to see him getting involved in football than in controversies.
