Diggy demands Gill's resignation

Indore, Apr 23 (UNI) Demanding the resignation of Indian Hockey Federation President K P S Gill, Congress General Secretary and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh today urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to recognise the Indian Cricket League (ICL) and make its sportspersons play in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

''I congratulate BCCI for initiating IPL. I wrote to BCCI President Sharad Pawar earlier urging him to recognise ICL,'' he told mediapersons here.

Providing the example of several football leagues in Europe, Mr Singh told Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association Secretary Sanjay Jagdale to pressurise the BCCI in this regard.

''Many ICL players are performing well. The IPL's monopolistic tendency is improper. I gathered support for Mr Gill at Bhopal during his election but he has stuck to his post like a political leader,'' Mr Singh quipped.
