Dole scalps 5 to restrict Vadodara at 209

Vadodara, Oct 17 (UNI) A superb five-wicket haul by medium pacer Aditya Dole helped Maharashtra restrict hosts Vadodara at 209 all out in their first innings on the opening day of their four-day C K Nayudu Trophy match, being played at the Motibaug stadium here today.

At close, Mahatrashtra were struggling, losing the wickets of opener Nikhil Paradkar (seven) and skipper Ghanashyam Deshmukh (10) to Vadodara medium pacer Ikram Zampawala with only 28 runs on the board off 11 overs.

Asked to bat after Maharashtra skipper Deshmukh won the toss, the hosts began on a chaotic manner losing five wickets for 74 runs. Thanks to a sixth-wicket partnership of 93 runs between skipper Ketan Panchal (78) and Rubin Dalwadi (34), Vadodara got some respectability as they folded up their innings at 209 with the last four wickets falling in a span of 14 runs. Panchal, who played 142 balls during his 163 minutes stay at the wicket, hit 78 with eight boundaries.

Spearheading Maharashtra's attack, Aditya Dole began the demolition act by claiming Vadodara opener Mehmood Baloch (four) in the fifth over, and then went on to scalp four more at an impressive figure of 5/38, while off-spinner Rohit Jadhav chipped in with two for 51 runs.

Brief score: Maharashtra first innings 209 (Ketan Panchal 78, Additya Dole 5/38). Vadodara first innings 28 for 2 (Ikram Zampawala 2/9).
