Manu Bhaker, India's one of the most decorated shooters now, has stated that her target is to win an Olympic gold medal at the Los Angeles 2028 Games. Manu was part of an interactive session at the Economic Times' World Leaders Forum 2024 on Saturday, August 31.
When one of the members questioned Manu on what the future holds for her after winning two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics 2024, the ace shooter emphasised her future aspirations of winning an Olympic gold.

"For me the target will be the journey to gold in the Olympic games, so the next thing will be LA for me. However, I am on a short break for now. It's been eight and a half years that I took a break from my sport,” Manu Bhaker, who won two bronze medals in Paris Olympics 2024, said at the event.
It's worth mentioning that fans will not be witnessing Manu Bhaker's heroics at any shooting range for the next three to four months as she has opted for a break. Notably, she was on a shooting spree for the past few years without considering a break in the lead-up to the Paris Games.
“So right now is the time when I'm like 3 months, 4 months (break) I will take and then start back with my training again for LA 2028.And all the competitions in between I am like it's just a milestone and the further goal will be LA 2028 for me. And right now also I am enjoying everything, I mean I am getting to dress up and all (giggles), so it's fun and games,” she added.
During the interactive event, the star shooter also touched on important topics of budding athletes maintaining a balance between sports, studies and hobbies. Additionally, she also stressed on the challenges associated with shooting.
For the unversed, Manu Bhaker scripted history at the Paris Olympics 2024, winning two bronze medals. Her first medal came in the women's 10m air pistol event while she bagged her second bronze in the air pistol mixed team event along with Sarabjot Singh.
