London, October 31: Dustin Johnson says the return of Tiger Woods is "good for the game of golf" as the 14-time major champion prepares to make his latest comeback at the Hero World Challenge.

Woods last month said there is a chance he may not be able to resume his incredible career as the American continued his recuperation from a fourth back operation.

Woods return good for the game of golf - Johnson

The 41-year-old has not played in a competitive event since suffering another injury setback at the Dubai Desert Classic in February.

But on Monday Woods announced he will be among the field in the Hero World Challenge, a non-PGA Tour event in the Bahamas, which starts on November 30.

Johnson, who is due to play in the tournament along with the likes of Jordan Spieth, Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Thomas, Jason Day, and Rickie Fowler, feels having a healthy Woods back will be positive for the sport.

Speaking at the launch of the new Hublot timepiece in Shanghai, he told Omnisport: "It's good for the game of golf. I really hope that he's healthy, that he can come back and compete because it's great for everyone.

"Golf is in a great place right now, it's doing very well. Tiger coming back and playing well is definitely good for the game… he is good for the game of golf."

Woods' announcement came three days after he pleaded guilty to reckless driving and agreed to enter a pre-trial diversion program following his May 29 arrest. He was also put on probation for 12 months.
