East Zone junior athletics championships from Sep 21

Patna, Sep 10 (UNI) The 19th East Zone junior athletics championship will be held here from September 21 to 23.

Bihar Athletics Federation Chairman Kumud Ranjan Jha told mediapersons here today that the three-day championship would be held in Mithlesh stadium at Phulwarisharif.

He said around 1000 participants from eleven states of east zone would participate in the championship. Jharkhand, Orissa, West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and hosts Bihar would take part in the championship.

Jha said a committee under the chairmanship of former Bihar minister Shyam Rajak had been formed to look after the arrangements for the championships. A sub committee had also been constituted to look after a contingent of 200 technical staffers from across the country, he added.

He said Union Minister of State for Telecommunication Shakil Ahmad would inaugurate the championship.

Governor R.S.Gavai, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad are likely to grace the event, he added.
