Easy for GSSS Gurgaon, Govt Model School Jalandhar

Jalandhar, Jan 19 (UNI) Government Senior Secondary School, Gurgaon, scored a resounding 7-0 triumph against Pooja Modern School, Kurukshetra, in the fourth All-India S Balwant Singh Kapur Memorial Hockey Tournament being played at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today.

The winners led 3-0 at half time. Pankaj, Naveen Kumar, Sidhant Gautam, Rohit Malik, Subhash Vats (one each) and Manoj (2) were the goal-getters for the Gurgaon School.

Spring Dale Public School of Amritsar chalked out a 5-3 win over Satguru Partap School Academy of Bhaini Shahib. In a well-contested encounter, the teams were evenly matched and the first half ended in a two-all draw. However, on crossing over, the Amritsar team capitalised most of the chances which came their way to clinch the issue.

Navjot Singh (2), Ramandeep Singh, Kanwar Subey Singh, Satinderjit Singh were the scorers for Spring Dale Public School. For Bhaini Shahib Academy, Gurmail Singh (2) and Malak Singh (1) reduced the margin.

Defending champions Government Model School of Jalandhar outclassed Dadial Khalsa Senior Secondary School of Patiala by 7-0.

Harpinder Singh stole the show by scoring three goals for the winners. Satbir Singh (2), Jagroop Singh Junior and Barkal Singh contributed one goal each for Jalandhar school.

In the fourth match of the day, Lyallpur Khalsa School, scored half a dozen goal without any reply from MGN School, Jalandhar Cantonment. Taranjit Singh (3), Gagandeep, Jagdeep Singh and Simranjit Singh (one each) were the marksmen for the winners.
