It's a rare sight for two American fighters to lock horns in Bangkok, Thailand's Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, but lightweight Muay Thai stars Eddie Abasolo and Luke Lessei will do just that at ONE Fight Night 19: Haggerty vs. Lobo.
The Stateside strikers have fallen on tough times as far as recent results go, but the entertaining styles that both brawlers bring have allowed them to stand as fan favorites. And those aspects will certainly spice up the all-American tie this Saturday, February 17.

"I feel like going into this fight, it's just another fight. You know, it's not a rebound off of our last fight for me personally. I can only speak for myself. I can't speak for him, but I feel like this fight is different," Abasolo said.
"Because we're both two dudes from the U.S. who do what we do very well. We just so happen to be in the same weight class, so it's just a matter of seeing who's the smoothest."
In addition to their shared nationality, many agree that Abasolo and Lessei are forged from the same fire. Last time around, Abasolo fell to a unanimous decision loss in a three-round thriller against the legendary Sittichai Sitsongpeenong last June at ONE Friday Fights 22 that wowed fans in Lumpinee Stadium.
A similar case can be said for Lessei, who played a monumental role in his nine-minute firefight with "Smokin'" Jo Nattawut last December at ONE Fight Night 17. "The Chef" didn't take home the decision, but Lessei certainly made a lasting impression on the audience.
So when Abasolo straps on the 4-ounce gloves this weekend, he's leaving all expectations outside the ring. He's willing to go out on his shield, and he warns Lessei to be ready to do the same to get back in the win column.
"Man, I can't even call it. I can't call it. Because realistically, my last two fights, especially for ONE, I've expected certain things, and the rhythm wasn't what I expected as far as pace goes," Abasolo said.
"I didn't expect my last fight to be a banger like it was with Sitthichai, but that's what it turned into. Basically, anywhere that it goes, I'll be ready to go there. Regardless if it's fast-paced. Regardless if it's slow-paced. If we really go for it, I'm going to be game."
