Joel Embiid's ejection marked a tumultuous first half in the Philadelphia 76ers' 111-106 victory over the San Antonio Spurs. With less than three minutes remaining in the half, Embiid fouled Victor Wembanyama, sending him to the floor. His vehement protests against the call led to a technical foul from referee Jenna Schroeder. Embiid's continued objections resulted in his second career ejection.
Embiid's ejection was confirmed post-game as being due to two technical fouls. Before leaving, he had scored nine points and grabbed three rebounds. "It was a wild first half," remarked 76ers coach Nick Nurse. He added, "I couldn't ever really get to the referee that called it [Embiid's ejection]. So, I was asking the other guys, and they were saying to ask her, and I never really got a chance. I just assume it was [for] arguing or whatever."

Andre Drummond also faced ejection after receiving two technical fouls in the first half. However, upon video review, this decision was overturned. Drummond's second technical foul stemmed from stepping on Wembanyama's foot, which was later deemed accidental.
The game saw further controversy when Wembanyama was initially penalised for flopping. This decision was reversed after Philadelphia had already taken a free throw, leading to that point being removed from the score. Spurs coach Mitch Johnson commented on these events: "I don't think it was a foul on them, and I don't think it was a flop [on Wembanyama], that's kind of how I saw it up to that point."
Despite boos from the crowd following these incidents, Wembanyama ended with an impressive performance. He accumulated 26 points, nine rebounds, and eight blocks by the game's conclusion.
Tyrese Maxey played a crucial role in securing the win for Philadelphia with his standout performance of 32 points. His efforts ensured that despite Wembanyama's strong showing, the Spurs could not overcome the 76ers' lead.
The chaotic nature of this match highlighted both teams' competitive spirit and resilience amidst controversial officiating decisions.
