Max Verstappen secured a win for Red Bull in their 400th Formula One race at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. Despite a late safety car, Verstappen maintained his lead after overtaking Oscar Piastri on the first lap. The Dutch driver had built a significant gap over Piastri and Lando Norris before the safety car was deployed due to Kimi Antonelli's retirement.
The race saw Verstappen extend his lead to over 20 seconds before the safety car bunched up the field. However, he managed an excellent restart, pulling away from his rivals. Norris, with fresher tyres than Piastri, overtook him for second place. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton made an impressive recovery for Ferrari, finishing fourth after starting 12th.

Verstappen's victory marked his fourth consecutive win at Imola, a record in Formula One history. He has also achieved this feat in Abu Dhabi and Japan. This win was crucial for Red Bull as they celebrated their 400th Grand Prix appearance, becoming only the seventh team to reach this milestone.
The opening lap was pivotal as Verstappen executed a bold move around Piastri at Turn One to take the lead. Lando Norris soon moved into third by passing George Russell. McLaren attempted an undercut strategy with Piastri, but it backfired due to traffic issues.
Piastri's pit stop left him behind several cars on older tyres, maintaining a 32-second gap to Verstappen. Norris pitted on lap 29, but a virtual safety car shortly after allowed Verstappen to pit with minimal time loss. A full safety car followed when Antonelli's Mercedes stopped on track.
This allowed both Verstappen and Norris to change tyres while Piastri stayed out, resulting in Norris having much fresher tyres than his teammate. McLaren permitted them to race each other briefly before Norris overtook Piastri with five laps remaining.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton delivered a strong performance despite starting from 12th position due to poor qualifying results in Imola. He finished fourth, while Charles Leclerc lost fifth place to Alex Albon after a late-race battle.
The top ten finishers included Max Verstappen (Red Bull), Lando Norris (McLaren), Oscar Piastri (McLaren), Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), Alex Albon (Williams), Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), George Russell (Mercedes), Carlos Sainz (Williams), Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls), and Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull).
The drivers' championship standings now have Oscar Piastri leading with 146 points, followed by Lando Norris with 133 points and Max Verstappen with 124 points. In the constructors' standings, McLaren leads with 279 points, ahead of Mercedes with 147 points and Red Bull with 131 points.
This race highlighted Verstappen's skill and strategic acumen as he continues his pursuit of the championship title. His performance at Imola reinforces his status as one of the top contenders this season.
