Gurugram, March 30: Spain's Eugenio Chacarra captured his first DP World Tour title in stunning fashion at the 2025 Hero Indian Open, overcoming an early setback to secure victory by two shots at the challenging DLF Golf & Country Club on Sunday (March 30).
The 25-year-old Spaniard, who earned a tournament invitation from the sponsors, entered the final round with a narrow one-shot lead. However, a rocky start saw him card a double bogey on the first hole and a bogey at the third, momentarily dropping him back to even par for the tournament.

Despite the early stumbles, Chacarra showcased remarkable resilience, using his experience from playing the International Series India at the same venue two months earlier - where he finished tied for fifth - to make a stunning comeback.
Chacarra, who also participated in the DP World Tour's Magical Kenya Open in February - finishing 20th and earning €25,890 - saved his best for the Hero Indian Open. On Sunday, he surged back into contention with a dazzling display of precision and composure. A sequence of birdies on the sixth, ninth, 11th, 12th, and 14th propelled him to a four-shot lead, firmly placing him in control of the tournament.
The defining moment of his round came at the par-four 14th hole, where a seemingly over-hit chip miraculously struck the pin and dropped straight into the hole for a crucial birdie, solidifying his lead.
A slight misstep at the 17th, where he found himself in the long grass and settled for a bogey, was not enough to derail his charge. He parred the 18th to finish at four under par, comfortably securing his maiden DP World Tour title and claiming the winner's prize money of €354,641.38 (INR 3,28,42,628.92).
Chacarra's impressive performance saw him finish two shots clear of Japan's Keita Nakajima, while Dutch golfer Joost Luiten secured third place, another stroke behind. The final round also witnessed a spectacular moment from Italy's Andrea Pavan, who aced the par-three 12th hole with a stunning hole-in-one from 189 yards using a nine iron.
Reflecting on his breakthrough victory, Chacarra expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity provided by the tournament sponsors. "I'd like to start by thanking Hero for giving me a chance to compete. I'm very grateful for that opportunity. You guys probably changed my life from today," he said.
Acknowledging the challenges of the final round, he added, "It was a tough day. We knew it was going to be long, with a lot of pressure, and obviously, I didn't have the start I really wanted. But I think I did a great job all week of staying patient. And I know God was helping me today. I got a couple of good bounces, including that chip-in on 14. I got some luck that you need to win, but I'm very proud."
Chacarra, brimming with confidence, also emphasized his belief in his abilities: "I know when I play my best, I'm one of the best players in the world-I've already proved that a million times. It's just awesome. It's going to take some time to sink in, but I'm really proud and just happy."
With this victory, Chacarra has firmly announced himself as a rising force on the DP World Tour. His triumph at the Hero Indian Open marks a significant milestone in his career and sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting future in professional golf.
