Evra says opponents need to show Man U more respect

By Super Admin

London, Feb.2 (ANI): Left-back Patrice Evra has said that opponents of Manchester United need to show his team more respect because of its record as a top football team and the fact that it has had the status of champions for more than two decades.

Targeting Chelsea, who have already been installed as hot favourites for the English Premier League title by so many pundits, Evra said Manchester United's 3-1 hammering of Arsenal on Sunday should leave no one in doubt about its determination to land a record fourth consecutive Premier League title.

"People have criticised us a great deal. Plenty of people do not show enough respect for the reigning champions. But we spoke in the dressing room before the Arsenal game and there was no question of us even coming away from the Emirates with a draw. We no longer had the option to do so - we have to win all our games now," The Sun quoted Evra, as saying.

He also felt that striker Wayne Rooney is in the form of his life, having netted 14 times in his last 14 games for United.

French star Evra, 28, said: "Wayne is clearly unstoppable right now. He has developed and understood that his job is to score goals. (ANI)
