Expedition Khardung-la from August 9
Chandigarh, May 14 (UNI) The Chandigarh Adventure Association is organising the Expedition Khardung-la from August 9 to 19.
Addressing a press conference here today, CAA president Kulbir Gaba said, ''This expedition is aimed at improving our own world record in motor sports category.
''The attempt is to break our own previous world record with the higher number of participants.'' The previous record was established in 2003 when 100 participants took part in the expedition.
About 200 to 250 participants from different states and Union Territories were expected to join the expedition and salute to the Tri-Colour at world's highest motorable pass on the eve of the Independence Day.
Mr Gaba said the 11-day expedition would start on August 9.
After scrutiny and registration, the participants will travel around Chandigarh as a pre-show. The expedition will be flagged off on August 10 and travel 1700 km in ten days. The bikers will cross six passes -- Rohtang-la (13,044'), Baralacha-la (16, 042'), Nakila-la ( 15.547'), Lachungla-la (16,616'), Tanglang-la (17,469') and Khardung-la (18,380').
