Melbourne, June 28 : Sporting legends Greg Norman and Chris Evert will have a no-expenses-spared wedding in the Bahamas, and some say that the event would be fit for royalty. The couple are believed to have shelled out about two million dollars for their nuptials at one of the world's most exclusive private resorts.

Guests are being flown from around the globe to enjoy several days of relaxing in a luxury location ahead of a carefully planned ceremony and a lavish reception.

For Evert and Norman's wedding at the One and Only Beach Club on Paradise Island, the jet-setting couple have chosen an elegant colour scheme of cream, pale pink and silver for their reception.

Two days ago, a team of six wedding planners from the US presented the couple with a mock-up of the striking tables they had designed for the evening celebrations, which are to be held in a huge air-conditioned marquee on the estate.

The Herald Sun saw the table, which was dressed in cream and platinum tablecloths laid with expensive silver cutlery and heavily patterned pink designer crockery.

A striking six-foot centrepiece dominates each table, with a huge floral arrangement balanced on an ornate antique-style silver stand featuring six small glass hanging lanterns to hold floating candles.

Each floral top features hundreds of imported cream and pale pink roses arranged around a spherical frame about 75cm across.

Dark wooden seats are made comfortable with plush cream linen cushions. Each table is set for 10 people and features six different types of glasses for a sommelier-selected menu of red and white wine to accompany each course.

The couple, who were engaged in December while travelling on Norman's private jet to South Africa, have booked out all rooms at the resort, a premium holiday destination for the rich and famous.

They are estimated to have shelled out a six-figure sum on fine food and alcohol for their guests, who will dine on some of the finest fare from the kitchen of the resort's only restaurant, Dune, which serves French-Asian cuisine infused with Bahamian influences and seasoned with herbs grown in the resort's organic garden.

Meals from the oceanfront eatery, which dishes up courses in trendy small serves, are not cheap.

For entrees, a single tempura crab cake served with papaya mustard and wild watercress costs a diner 32 dollars, while a bowl of tomato soup has a 19 dollar price tag.

For mains, a meat lover has to pay 66 dollars for a rack of lamb dusted with seven spices and served with haricot vert, pea shoots and cucumber relish or 62 dollars for a slowly cooked pork chop served with miso butter and asparagus.

Seafood fans will shell out 62 dollars for local lobster served with baby bok choy and fried plantains or 47 dollars for red snapper steamed with ginger, tarragon, scallions and shitake and oyster mushrooms. A side of mashed potato costs 12 dollars.

Ahead of the nuptials, guests can enjoy active pursuits or simply relax in the luxury surrounds, which were featured in the recent James Bond film Casino Royale.

Guests will be treated to rounds of golf with Norman at a nearby course, and tennis with Evert on the resort's six synthetic grass courts and spa treatments.

For those wanting some high-octane action, guests have access to top-of-the-range jetskis on the private beach or they can get a bird's eye view of the island in a parasail featuring a seat for two pulled by speedboats.

A fully equipped fitness centre and bicycles are also available for those willing to brave the heat and humidity. Other activities include kayaking, fishing, scuba diving, snorkelling and luxury yacht charters to private islands.

For those wanting to relax, hammocks sway beneath grand palm trees and sun loungers are dotted on thick grass over looking the ocean in front of the western wing of suites.

Guests can recline on plush lounges at the adults-only Versaillies Pool, which gets its name from its location at the base of a tiered garden designed to look like France's Versailles garden.

At the top of the garden's stone steps stands the striking Augustinian Cloisters, a stone arch structure at the highest point on the island overlooking breathtaking views of the Nassau Harbour to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the north.

Younger guests - including Evert's sons Alexander, 16, Nicholas, 14, and Colton, 12, from her 18-year marriage to US Olympic skiier Andy Mill - certainly won't miss out on the luxury fun.

Tweens and teens can enjoy their own family pool adjacent to the tennis courts.

Children between four and 12 also have access to the kids-only club, a fully supervised program that features daily activities such as a culinary academy and training sessions with the resort's golf and tennis professionals.

The club has a computer and technology area, arts and crafts centre, movie and video games room, a library and game room.
