Federation Cup 2025: Before the race, all eyes were on national record holder Gurindervir Singh, the in-form Animesh Kujur, or former record holder Manikanta Hoblidhar to claim the 100m crown but in a stunning twist, it was Railways' Pranav Pramod Gurav who blazed past the favourites to snatch an unforgettable victory at the Maharaja's Stadium in Kochi on Monday (April 21).
Blazing down the track, he clocked a personal best of 10.27s to win the final. 200m sensation Animesh Kujur followed with 10.32s to take second, while Manikanta Hoblidhar secured third in 10.35s. Surprisingly, Gurindervir Singh who had recently shattered the national record at IGP 1 faded in the final to finish last with a time of 11.21s.

Pranav started his 2025 season brilliantly by finishing second in the men's 100m with a time of 10.32s, while Animesh Kujur took first place with a time of 10.28s. He later won the gold medal in the men's 100m with a time of 10.38s at the Indian Open Athletics Meet in Chennai.
This morning, Pranav clocked 10.56s to finish second in his heats and qualify for the semifinals. There, he stepped it up with a 10.38s run, finishing behind Manikanta Hoblidhar and 200m national record holder Amlan Borgohain. But in the finals at Kochi, Pranav unleashed his best, stunning the favourites to clinch a remarkable victory.
Pranav may have narrowly missed the Asian Championships qualification mark of 10.25s, but there's no need to worry - greater things lie ahead. The clock stopped at 10.27, but Pranav's rise has only just begun.
