Federation Cup Athletics Highlights Day 3: The 26th National Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championship enters the third day on Wednesday (May 17) with Asian Athletics Championships and World Athletics Championships berths up for grabs at Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi.
Day 3 of the event will see Jyothi Yarraji vie for the women's 110m hurdles and 200m glories while Amlan Borgohain will be in action in the men's 200m final. Also, women's discus throw and men's hammer throw finals will take place on the day. Find the complete schedule of the evening session of Day 3 below.

On a comeback trail, former national champion Purnima Hemrbram took lead with 3153 points on the opening day of heptathlon. Four events took place are 200m, Shot Put, high jump, 100m hurdles. Complete results to follow.

Men's 400m hurdles final qualifiers: AFTAB ALAM, ROHAN KAMBLE, SANTHOSH T, JABIR MP, DHARUN AYYASAMY, SATHISH K, YASHAS P, NIRMAL YADAV

Jabir MP had little difficulty in winning heat 1 of 400m as he won it at a leisurely pace of 51.93 seconds while Tamil Nadu's Santhosh T beat his statemate and national record holder Dharun Ayyasamy to the finish line with a pace of 50.59 seconds.

Men's 200m final qualifiers: ELAKKIYADASAN K, SOURAV SAHA, AMLAN BORGOHAIN, ANIMESH KUJUR, ABHIN B DEVADIGA, KAPIL, RAHUL KADAM, JAY SHAH

Amlan Borgohain sets the pace in the men's 200m heats with a timing of 20.85 seconds in heat 2 following the thunderstorm interruption. The national record holder may expect stiff competition in the final from Animesh Kujur, who clocked 20.93 seconds to top in the heat 1. Complete results to follow.

Jyothi Yarraji clocked her personal best in flat 200m as well with a timing of 23.47 seconds in heat 2. She was just a thousand behind gold medal favourite Archana Suseendran, who was the fastest in heat 1 with a timing of 23.46 seconds. Complete results to follow.

GOLD: TEJAS SHIRSE; SILVER: MADHVENDRA SING SHEKHAWAT; BRONZE: SACHIN BINU

Tejas Shirse clocked a 13.72 seconds in the men's 110 metre finals to clinch the gold medal. The win, however, failed to please the 20-year-old hurdler, who was aiming of the Asian Championship qualification mark of 13.57 seconds. He earlier on Tuesday set the meet record with his personal best of 13.61 seconds.

Adverse weather conditions at the Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi interrupted Day 3 of the Federation Cup during the 200m heats. Right before the Thunderstorm interruption, Women's 100m Jyothi Yarraji posted a 12.89 seconds timing to set the new meet record after breaking it the other day during the heats. 110m hurdler Tejas Shirse won the men's final with a timing of 13.73 seconds but failed to breach the qualification standard.
Day 2 saw the nation's leading shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor win the gold medal with a throw of 20.42 metres while Annu Rani had no difficulties in winning the women's javelin final with a throw of 59.24m. The duo has qualified for the Asian Athletics Championships as well.
The men's and women's 100m final also took place in the evening session with Odisha runners Amiya Mallick and Srabani Nanda reigning supreme with timings of 10.31 seconds and 11.57 seconds respectively. The duo, however, couldn't breach the Asian qualification standard.
The 400m men's final saw Rajesh Ramesh clock his first sub-46 timing of 45.75 seconds while Muhammad Ajmal also broke the barrier with 45.85 seconds. The duo stunned national record holder Muhammad Anas and experienced camper Arokia Rajiv in a closely-fought final.
The women's 400m final saw Priya HM win the final with a timing of 53.40 seconds despite Aishwarya Mishra clocking 52.57 seconds as the latter was disqualified for a lane infringement. Priya and her coach lodged a protest with the AFI officials following the race as video revealed Mishra stepped on the line.
