Ferguson backs Owen, Berbatov

London, Aug 22(ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has defended his strikers Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov, who have failed to score so far for the reigning Premier League champions in this season.

"Michael could do with a goal. He had two chances on Wednesday at Burnley and should have scored them. He knows that," The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying.

"His movement and positional play in the last third is very good. We are just waiting on that goal," he added.

Though Owen has been spared from the brunt of The Red Devils fans, 28-year-old Bulgarian striker Berbatov was substantially slammed by them for a lack of effort.

However, Ferguson was quick to back his crucial player and said that Berbatov will prove him worth in the games that follow.

"It is his style rather than the effect he has on the game. I'm particularly happy with him," Ferguson said. (ANI)
