Ferrari Struggles In Formula One Following Silverstone Setback For Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton expressed frustration over Ferrari's performance at the British Grand Prix, citing car instability and strategic errors that hindered his race.

Lewis Hamilton expressed his disappointment with Ferrari's performance at the British Grand Prix, where he missed out on a podium finish. He described the SF-25 car as unpredictable and challenging to handle. Hamilton's impressive streak of 12 consecutive podiums at Silverstone ended as he finished fourth. Despite being in contention for pole position on Saturday, a late error dropped him to fifth place behind Max Verstappen.

During Sunday's rain-affected race, Hamilton aimed for a third-place finish behind McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri but couldn't overtake Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber. This marked Hulkenberg's first podium in 238 races, setting a new record for the longest wait for a top-three finish in Formula One history. Hamilton has now gone 13 races without a podium, the longest drought of his career.

Ferrari Faces Setback at Silverstone

Hamilton shared his frustrations with Sky Sports after the race, saying, "The car was really, really hard to drive. It just has no stability. You go to corner, and it's snapping, snapping, snapping, snapping. It just won't stay still and that makes it so difficult." He explained that the car's instability made it hard to build confidence and improve speed over time.

Hamilton also pointed out strategic errors by Ferrari that affected his race outcome. His first pit stop during heavy rain dropped him from fourth to eighth place. An early switch to slick tyres later cost him five seconds as he tried to catch up with Hulkenberg. "We lost time and a lot of places through strategy," Hamilton noted. He found himself stuck behind three cars for an extended period, making it difficult to advance.

The challenging conditions further complicated matters for Hamilton. "This car does not like these conditions at all," he remarked about the tricky weather during the race. The next opportunity for redemption will come after two weekends off when the F1 season resumes on July 25 with practice sessions ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa.

Hamilton reflected on how difficult it was to maintain confidence in such an unpredictable car. "It's like building a wall and then knocking it down," he said about trying to gain trust in the vehicle's performance. The lack of stability left him feeling stuck throughout most of the race.

Despite these challenges, Hamilton remains focused on improving his performance in upcoming races. The break before Spa offers an opportunity for reflection and preparation as he aims to return stronger in Belgium later this month.
