The FIFA Basketball World Cup 2023 is all set to start on Friday (August 25) with show-piece tournament to be held for the first time across multiple countries - the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
The tournament will be spread out across three countries for the first two rounds before all the biggest games get played in Manila to decide which nation will go home with gold medals and the Naismith Trophy on September 10.

Spain is the defending champion, having won in China four years ago. The United States was only seventh in that tournament, its worst finish ever in a major international event. But the Americans have high hopes, and enter as the 32-team tournament's favorites.
The tournament will be played in three phases - the group stage, the second round, and the final phase. In the group stage, the 32 qualified teams will be sorted into eight groups of four (A-H), where every team in a group will play each other once.
The 32 teams were split into eight groups of four. The top two teams from each group will make the second round. The top eight teams after the second round advance to the quarterfinals.

Group D: Mexico, Montenegro, Egypt, Lithuania
Group E: Finland, Australia, Germany, Japan
Group F: Cape Verde, Georgia, Slovenia, Venezuela
Group G: Iran, Brazil, Spain, Ivory Coast
Group H: Latvia, Lebanon, Canada, France
Some of the biggest stars of the game will be in action, including Luka Doncic (Slovenia), Karl Anthony Towns (Dominican Republic), Bogdan Bogdanovic (Serbia), Jordan Clarkson (Philippines) and Kyle Anderson (China). More than 50 NBA stars will be taking part in the tournament.
The first round group stage matches will be played from August 25 to 30, while the second round matches will be played on September 1 and 3 with the 17th to 32nd classification matches set to take place on August 31 and September 2. The knockouts will start on September 5 and conclude on September 10.
There are different start times for the group stage games with the earliest start at 1:30 PM IST followed by 2:15 PM IST, 2:45 PM IST, 3:15 PM IST, 5 PM IST, 5:30 PM IST, 5:40 PM IST, 6 PM IST, 6:10 PM IST and 7 PM IST.
