Johannesburg(E): Brazil came up with a clinical performance as they outclassed Chile 3-0 in their round of 16 clash at Johannesburg.

As play started, both teams started positive and were looking for the opening breakthrough.

Gilberto Silva hit a long range shot from outside the penalty box in the 9th minute but his effort was denied by goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

Suazo was delivered a terrific ball from outside in the 13th minute but could just manage a soft shot straight in the hands of Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

Ramires was going for the long-range effort for Brazil.

Brazil around the 27th minute managed to scare the Chile defense with a winning continious free kick and two corners. Lucio was taken down by the Pablo Contreras, and was claiming a penalty for Brazil but the referee dismissed the claim.

Juan drew first blood for Brazil as he scored with his header in the 34th minute delivered from corner spot. The 31-year old who plays for club Roma gave the all important opening goal for the Brazilians.

Confident after the first goal, the Samba boys were up and running and were playing with an attacking flow hunting for their second goal.

Brazil attack produced their second goal as all three forwards, Robhino, Kaka and Fabiano in the end combined to score a stunning goal in the space of 4 minutes after the opening goal.

At the end of the first half Brazil were 2-0 up.

As play resumed in the second half, it was Brazil who again started positively, looking for their third goal.

Robhino in the 59th minute scored a pretty goal for the Samba boys after Ramires made a superb run towards the Chile penalty area and flicked it for Robhino to increase the misery of the Chile team.

After the goal Chile team showed some urgency to find their first goal, going forward and putting some good passes but they were never able to break the Brazilian back-line.

Until that moment of play Chile had just one shot on target since the start of play.

Brazil were on the case again, playing with pace and authority, going forward looking for every opportunity to add another goal.
In the 74th minute Robhino made another galloping run and managed to hit a low shot towards the left side of the Chile goal, but his effort was denied by Bravo.

Minutes later, Suazo for Chile, made a valiant effort to find his team's opener but his shot was denied by Cesar.

In the 78th minute Suazo again came up with a decent effort, a half-volley after the ball was driven from corner spot, but his shot was denied by the cross-bar.

The Chile side although three goals down, were really trying and fighting. They were positive throughout and were really playing with purpose. They lacked the finishing prowess like the Brazilians as they were not able to test Cesar enough.

Brazil will now face Netherlands in the quarter-final stage.
