Netherlands and Denmark to go head-on

By Samyuktha

Johannesburg, Jun 14: The Football fever continues at an all time high as four Group E teams get set to go head on. The first match of the day is between Netherlands and Denmark followed by Japan vs Cameroon match-up.

There is a lot at stake for both Netherlands and Denmark as both the countries need to score points in the openers to put their campaign in the FIFA World Cup 2010 in the right track.

Netherlands has had a good run in the qualifying matches and Denmark needs to claim the first match to mould its direction towards the lifting the trophy. However, the Danish coach does not seem to be as Morten Olsen said on Sunday, Jun 13 that a draw would be a satisfactory result.

Both the teams are dealing with injuries. While Netherlands will be playing in the absence of winger Arjen Robben, who injured his hamstring during the 6-1 rout of Hungary on Jun 5; Denmark may have to do without its best striker - Nicklas Bendtner, who is suffering a groin-muscle injury.

Arsenal's Robin van Persie is expected to lead the strike attack against the Danes. The Danish defence rests on Daniel Agger, who will have to contain Persie's attacks as centre-back Simon Kjaer and starting keeper Thomas Sorensen are both injured.

If Bendtner is in a condition to play, Denmark will its most dangerous striker to lead the offensive against Netherlands. His winning strike against Portugal is one of those examplary goals.
