France, South Africa meet in a do-or-die clash

By Anmolg

Bloemfontein: France will face off against hosts South Africa in a must-win game to give themselves a chance to qualify for the last 16.

After an ordinary show in the opening match and a 2-0 defeat to Mexico, the french team faces a stiff task to make it to the last 16. The French camp has had tough time recently with Anelka being kicked out of the team by the French Football Federation(FFF) for reportedly using foul language to his coach Raymond Domenech.

The team led by captain Patrice Evra were then caught in an altercation with the fitness coach. Evra boycotted the training session in protest of Anelka's decision. And worst there are rumors that some of the players might not participate in the game against Bafana Bafana.

Bafana Bafana at the other end have had their own problems after suffering 3-0 defeat to Uruguay. Barely two weeks ago the whole country was alive, had come together and excited about the teams show in the World Cup. People had high hopes that playing at home, the Africans would be able to come out good with crowd support. After conceding three goals against Uruguay, some of the disappointed home fans left the encounter before the 90 minutes was over.

The team may be down and out, but will be looking to play for pride when they kick-start against France.

Both teams must win to stand a chance for qualification and hope that Mexico and Uruguay match don't end in a draw.

Players to watch out for:

South Africa: Siphiwe Tshabalala, Katlego Mphela, Steven Pienaar

France: Florent Malouda, Franck Riberry, Djibril Cisse
