Uruguay, Korea Republic to fight for quarterfinals

By Anmolg

Port Elizabeth: Uruguay who topped group A is set to take on group b runners-up Korea Republic in their clash in the knockout round at Port Elizabeth.

Coming into the match, the Uruguay looks strong favorites to take the match based on current form and history. Under the guidance of Oscar Tabarez, the Uruguay side have produced strong all-round performances with good forward play and strong defense as well. The Uruguay side have not conceded even a single goal in until this stage.

On the other side, the South Koreans are a happy side they have managed to make it through to the knockout phases and have nothing to lose. Coach Huh Jung-Moo's target before the tournament was to reach the knock-out stage and now they have a chance to go further.

Unlike the La Celeste defense, the South Koreans look a little vulnerable in defense. The Asian side suffered their worst defeat in 12 years against Argentina losing the game 4-1.

Uruguay striker Diego Forlan will be the man to watch out for. Meanwhile the South Koreans will be heavily relying on Park Ji-Sung to score for them. Park recently became the second Asian player to score in three editions of Fifa World Cup.

History speaks that the two teams have clashed 4 times and La Celeste have won on all four occasions.

Match starts- 19:30 IST
