Group of Death: Portugal, N Korea to fight it out

Posted By: Samyuktha

Johannesburg, Jun 21: In yet another deadly tie-up from the 'Group of Death', Portugal and North Korea are set to go head on on Monday, Jun 21.

The second round Group G clash is expected to be a tight one as Portugal will be on a campaign to cancel the effects of the disappointing draw in their opener against Ivory Coast while North Korea will be battling to get the much needed 3 points with a win after their fall against the mighty Brazil.

This is the third game being hosted at Cape Town's Green Point Stadium, which has seen very little action in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2010. Only two goals have been scored in the stadium and three matches have ended in draw.

The Ivorians, who were impaired by injuries especially by the arm injury of star striker Didier Drogba, managed to hold off Portugal for a draw. The Portuguese striker, Christiano Ronaldo sought more protection for skillful players like himself from the referees after the elephants' defence managed to upset his attacks as well as lead to a yellow card against him.

Ronaldo along with Simao will led to attack against the competent North Koreans. The Koreans have proved the resilience of their defence in holding off Brazil in their opener. It took the Brazilians an hour to open their goal account. With Deco out of the match due to a hip problem, the team's attack depends largely on Ronaldo. Tiago is expected to replace Deco.

Coming to the Korean attack, the single goal against the football titans speaks volumes of their attacking capability. Ji Yun-Nam, the striker who scored the single goal for the team against Brazil, and Jong Tae-se, who also put up a brilliant show in the opener, are expected to lead the Korean offensive.
