England team lands in Johannesberg

Johannesberg: The England squad have arrived in South Africa Thursday morning hoping to make a good start in the group stages.

The team was greeted with cool weather as english stars landed in the Johannesberg airport along with their team manager Fabio Capello.

"I hope the World Cup will be a big success for South Africa and also for my team. Thank you. It is good to be here," the Capello told reporters on the airport.

The EPL is most watched and recognized by most South Africans more than the local football played out there. According to a recent survey England are the second favorite team for the African nation after Brazil should the home team fail to make progress all the way to the final stages.

Once immigration formalities had been completed at a temporary arrival facility, England headed by luxury coach for Rustenburg, a town two hours' drive west of Johannesburg in the heart of a platinum-rich area according to AFP reports.

As many feel that England have a difficult task road ahead of the World Cup, but they have a fairly easy group with the likes of Australia, Ghana and Serbia for a place among the last eight.
