Chennai, Sep 5: The International Hockey Federation(FIH) has invited bids from India and Malaysia as a possible alternative venue for the Champions Trophy tournament originally scheduled to be held in Pakistan in December this year, according to Indian Hockey Federation(IHF) Secretary K Jyothikumaran.
FIH has given a week's time to the Federations of the two countries to send their bids to stage the tournament, in case it is shifted from Pakistan in the wake of law and order situation in the country.
FIH expert Bob Davidson, here to witness the ongoing Asia Cup tournament, has also confirmed the invitation for bids from India and Malaysia to newspersons.
It may be recalled that Austalia has already pulled out of the Champions Trophy in Pakistan for security reasons. It has also reportedly appealed to other participating teams to pull out of the tournament.
India has already hosted the prestigious tournament twice in Chennai.
