First-ever 'booing' feeling sinks Vaughan

London, Apr 18 (UNI) England captain Michael Vaughan has expressed his helplesness when his side was booed off from Kensington Oval in Barbados yesterday, after tamely surrendering to South Africa which knocked them out of the Caribbean World Cup.

''It's a horrible feeling to walk off the park and get booed by English supporters. I've been a supporter in a stadium and watched football teams who haven't produced a performance and I've been doing exactly the same, so I fully understand why they've given us that reception,'' Vaughan was quoted by the 'Daily Telegraph'.

''It's a massive tournament which I expected us to turn up at and produce the goods, because I firmly believe we have the players with the attitude and talent to do that on the big stage. But we haven't done that so we have to accept all the criticism that comes our way,'' he added.

England's one-day form specially in World Cup has been a matter of concern for a while as they last reached the semi-finals of a World Cup 15 years back in 1992.

Although, sword is hanging over Vaughan and team coach Duncan Fletcher's future, the 32-year-old English captain feels that any decision regarding them should be made only in the best interests of English cricket.

''It's not about me or Duncan Fletcher, it's about people coming up with a strategy to find the best options to take England forward,'' he pointed out.
