F-One legends were fearless, feels Jenson

By Anmolg

London, July 2 (ANI): Formula One champion Jenson Button believes that F1's golden oldies were more fearless and braver than his current grid rivals.

The world champ will get behind the wheel of hero Alain Prost's 1986 McLaren car at this weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed.

And, he admits it must have taken nerves of steel to have raced when grand prix cars were far less safe than they are now.

The Sun quoted Button, 30, as saying: "The car I'm most looking forward to driving is Alain's MP4/2C. I've already had a seat fitting, and it's just a different world. When I'm sat in the cockpit, there's no lateral protection, I can touch the suspension wishbones. I can even touch the floor. Those guys must have been pretty fearless to have raced those things back then."

Button is relishing going to next week's British Grand Prix at Silverstone as the reigning world champion.

The Frome flier is lying second in the standings just six points behind team-mate Lewis Hamilton. (ANI)
