Football Manager 2024- Roles those change the formation

Football Manager 2024 has brought a revolutionary change to the match engine with new roles being introduced those completely transform the formation of the team. Some of these roles were also present in the previous editions of the game but the change is formation looks flawless and exactly like real world in FM24.

In this article, we will take a look at such player roles in detail. The first such role is inverted full back which is only available in defend duty. This role basically means that you full-back will almost like a wide centre back and hold his position rather than going forward down the flank.

A perfect example of this is how Ben White operates at right-back for Arsenal. This role offers solid defensive solidity and often acts as the license for the other full-back to move forward whenever an opportunity arrives.

The next such role and probably the most interesting one in FM24 is inverted wing back who can be assigned defend, attack or support duty. An inverted wing back underlaps into midfield and can operate either as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder or even an attacking midfielder depending upon his duty.

This role is focused to have an additional player in the midfield area to have another passing option. Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko are examples of this role.

The next such role is half-back whose starting position is in defensive midfield but he operates like a central defender when his team is in possession. A half-back offers his side defensive solidity and encourages full-back to burst forward without any defensive liability.

False nine is another such role which has been in the game for a long time. A false nine starts up front as a striker but comes really deep to help out his teammates in midfield and play their part in build up play. False nines have the license to roam across the pitch and create openings for the team.

If used properly with the right tactics, all these roles offers the team a whole new dimension especially when in possession. These roles also makes the team unpredictable and difiicult for the opposition to deal with.
