For Moody its love and family over Int assignment
Sydney, June 27 (UNI) Passion for his familly and country played an important role in ruling out international coaching assignment for former Sri Lanka coach Tom Moody.
Moody, who enjoyed tremendous success with the Sri Lankan side, taking them to the finals of the World Cup in West Indies, has signed a three-year contract with the West Australian team.
Attributing his decision to join a domestic team rather than a international team of stature, he said, ''I've had a taste of international cricket. It's very demanding, particularly when you've got a young family.'' The former Australian all-rounder said, ''At this stage of my life and career, I don't see myself looking at international posts in a short or mid term.'' Many believe one of the main reason prompting his decision to relocate to WACA was because one of his two children will start high school next year.
''This was a terrific opportunity for me to relocate the family to a place that I grew up in and am very fond of, and have the opportunity to work at the WACA where I've had many, many enjoyable years as a player,'' he was quoted by 'West Australian'.
However, the 41-year-old did not altogether rule out the possiblity of a comeback in the international arena. ''Who knows in the long term what will happen? Certainly in the next three to five years I look forward to working at this level and getting the very best out of the group of players we have here at the WACA.
''When I sat down and looked at what the important things are in my life at this stage, it became pretty clear and then it became a lot easier,'' Moody said.
