Former Delhi captain Jayaram passes away

New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI) Former Delhi captain and FIFA refree Jayraman passed away last night at his residence at Vasant Vihar after battling a prolonged illness.

Jayraman, aged about 90 years, started his career during pre-independence days. He played for Raisana Sporting and New Delhi Heroes in the local leagues and other reputed tournaments.

He represented Delhi state in the Santosh Trophy twice and had worked as AIFF instructor and match commissioner.

A number of officials, refrees and fans attended his funeral at Lodhi Road cremation ground this evening.

Delhi Soccer Association and its president Subhash Chopra expressed their heart-felt condolences at the demise of Jayaram.
