Former kiwi captain Reid smells 'fixing' in Pak's loss to Ireland

Sydney, Mar 28 (UNI) Match referee John Reid had immediate doubts as to how Pakistan could have lost their first round match against rank outsiders Ireland without 'match-fixing' being involved.

The former New Zealand test captain said, ''Immediately I had suspicions.'' Reid went on to justify that he had overseen the developments due to his experience as a referee at previous World Cups too.

'' I've been a (match) referee at other World Cups in 1999 when Pakistan were beaten by Bangladesh and in 2003 when Sri Lanka were beaten by Kenya,'' he was quoted by 'The Herald Sun'.
