Franz Wagner faces another spell on the sidelines, with Orlando Magic confirming the forward is out indefinitely. Wagner continues to feel soreness in the left ankle that Wagner injured earlier this season. Medical staff plan another assessment in around three weeks, after more rehabilitation work.
The update comes at a testing time for the Magic, who hold a 28-25 record. Orlando lead the Miami Heat by only half a game in the Southeast Division. Wagner is 24 and shares top scoring honours with Paolo Banchero at 21.3 points per game.

Wagner first picked up the left high ankle sprain on 7 December. The forward then missed 16 straight games before returning on 15 January. That comeback happened in Berlin, Wagner’s hometown, followed by another appearance in London on 18 January.
After the overseas games, Wagner sat out nine further fixtures to rest the ankle. Wagner came back again on 9 February and played in Orlando’s final two matches before the All-Star break. Subsequent scans showed the joint still needs time, so the medical team delayed any full return.
Wagner’s continued absence removes a key part of Orlando’s attack and playmaking. Wagner averages 5.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists, while shooting 47.9 per cent from the field. From three-point range, Wagner is hitting a career-high 36.5 per cent. Results show a clear impact, as Orlando are 12-6 when Wagner scores at least 20 points, and 16-19 when Wagner does not.

The cautious approach reflects Wagner’s importance in both scoring and efficiency for Orlando’s playoff push. With the division lead narrow, every game without Wagner carries extra weight. The team now waits for the mid-March re-evaluation, hoping the extra rest finally settles the ankle problem.
