By Siddhika Prajapati

When you picture Olympic athletes, sleek snow gear and patterned leotards probably come to mind. But these sports stars can trade their athletic gear for glam galore when they hit the red carpet. Post their sporting successes, several top Olympians have scored invites to the most glittering events, from movie premieres to the Oscars and the Met Gala. Some, like soccer stars, have long had a flair for fashion—and it shows!

Here’s a peek at Olympians who’ve strutted their stuff in style:

Lindsey Vonn, 2024 Laureus Awards

At the 'Oscars of Sports’, Lindsey Vonn showcased a chic evolution in style. The retired skier shared with British Vogue that her fashion sense has shifted over time, swinging from reserved to bold. “You go through waves of being more reserved, and waves of being a little bit more feminine and sexy”, she said. Looks like she’s found a happy medium of elegance!

Serena Williams, 2024 Met Gala

Known for her power moves on the tennis court, Serena Williams also knows how to make a fashion statement. Her love for fashion dates back to her early sewing days. “I’ve been sewing since I was three”, she told The New York Times. From the court to the couture, Serena truly is a style sensation.

Katie Ledecky, 2022 ESPYs

Katie Ledecky sparkled in a breathtaking outfit at the ESPYs, where she took home awards for Female Athlete and U.S. Female Olympian. Her acceptance speech echoed her shining persona: “There are so many heroes, not just in sports, but all around us. Look to those people as role models and go for the gold.”

Chloe Kim, 2023 Unforgettable Gala

Chloe Kim turned heads in a red gown that perfectly matched the carpet at the 2023 Unforgettable Gala. The snowboarder, who designed colorful snowboarding gear with Roxy, believes in making a bold statement. “On the mountains, I love to wear color”, she told Harper’s Bazaar. Clearly, she’s also a fan of turning the red carpet into a runway.

Aly Raisman, 2022 TIME 100 Gala

Despite her preference for athleisure, Aly Raisman dazzled in a one-shoulder gown at the TIME 100 Gala. The bold black-and-white pattern proved she can trade gym wear for high fashion with ease. Talk about a balance beam achievement!

Eileen Gu, 2024 King’s Trust Global Gala

Eileen Gu shines in both skiing and modeling, appearing at Fashion Week with ease. Her sculptural green dress at the King's Trust Global Gala was a testament to her versatility. “Modeling and skiing require incredible expression and personality”, she told Vogue Hong Kong. And she’s certainly showing both!

These Olympians prove that gold medals aren’t the only things they can win—style trophies abound as well!
