Gagan Narang's best is yet to come, says father BS Narang

Hyderabad, Aug 1: The proud father of Gagan Narang, BS Narang feels his son's best is yet to come after the ace shooter won India's first medal at London Olympics by bagging a bronze in the 10m air rifle event on Monday.

"Now, I will tell him to prepare for the next event, 'aur jeetna hai abhi' (there is more to win)," said Senior Narang, referring to the other two events in which the ace shooter is participating in at the Olympics - 50m rifle prone and 3 positions.

Gagan won the first medal for India in the 30th edition of Olympics at London as he shot 103.1 in a gripping 10-shot finals for an aggregate of 701.1. He had scored 598 in the qualifying round in which he also stood third at the Royal Artillery Barracks.

Narang's father too said that he expected Gagan to bag a Gold medal but admitted that it was a great achievement to win a bronze at Olympics.

"We expected gold but it is still a very good achievement," the senior Narang told reporters here.

"The Olympics medal was missing from his kitty. He has got it now. This will boost his morale for the future events," he added.

If Gagan had played a few shots to perfection on Monday, a gold medal wasn't far away. With two more events to go, can Gagan win a Gold?
